AOS and EAD for K3 in Boston
My wife and her kids arrived in the US on K3/K4 visas early February.
We were just preparing the papers to file for AOS and EAD in person, at the
Boston office, when we got notice that Boston would no longer process those
petitions effective 2/13, but would forward them to the National Benefit
Center.
(See thread around Feb 24 when this was reported in this group first).
We submitted the filings on 2/20 and expected to get a receipt from NBC
within 21 days as announced.
It has been six weeks now since we sent the documents. We have not received
a receipt yet, and I just found from my bank that the cashiers check was not
cashed yet.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Are there other who have recently filed at the NBC and had similar
experiences?
I am afraid this change in procedure may have created a gap between Boston
and NBC...

Sounds to me like the weakest link might be whether or not the documents HAVE been forwarded from Boston to NBC. Also forgive me, but it does say that for K3 folks the 765 has to be sent to NBC anyway, NOT to the local center.

We filed in Providence, R.I., a suboffice of Boston. We filed Feb. 23,
three business days after the switch.
We got our notices in the mail April 29, or five weeks later. Ours were
denied for the most basic of reasons -- silly us, we followed the I-485
directions and sent in the incorrect fees.
Obviously, the 21 days thing isn't being followed to the T.
Now, ours should've been a rather simple denial. Because yours presumably
is not, I wouldn't expect another week to be a significant time.
But _PLEASE_ do not misunderstand me. My wife and I were awfully damned
nervous and worried for every day of that five weeks, and particularly so
at the 21-day mark. I don't mean to downplay your feelings or concerns,
which obviously are supported by the written word of the BCIS. Just hang
in there, but realize they're more delayed than they say they are. I can
say I'm sorry and I feel for you.
