Default AOS complete -what to do about passport

For lack of anything else to worry about, now that his AOS is
complete, my Danish husband is now concerned about his Danish passport
expiring. He says all he has to do is call the police station where he
used to live and they will issue a new one, seems too simple to me,
but anyone have any experience with this? He cant get an american
passport, right?

Thanks, pat

He can't get a US passport until (unless) he becomes a citizen.
He might want to contact the nearest Danish consulate and seek
assistance from them regarding renewing his passport.

Is there no Danish embassy/consulate where you live? That would be my first thought on renewing a passport...plus where I will go to renew mine. And no, he can't get a US passport unless he is a US citizen (which he doesn't appear to be as you mentioned that he only just finished AOS).

A thought here:

I will probably have to get a brand new passport after I get my green card. I don't want to replace it in the middle of the AOS process because I would need to send them my old passport in order to receive a new one. It just makes me feel uneasy giving it away right now.

Anyway, will the update affect the green card at all? I mean, is the GC totally independant from the passport, or not...?

As far as I know, the GC has nothing to do with the passport. The passport is valid all over the world, but the GC is just proof that you are in the US legally.
