AOS approved in Chicago! Timeline for everyting so far...
After looking over our timeline we were extremely fortunate.
I-129F filed 2/26/02 (receipt date 3/8/02) to Nebraska
I-129F approved 4/8/02
K-1 applied 4/15/02 to Bangkok Thailand
K-1 approved 5/7/02
I-151 appled 11/6/02 to Chicago
I-151 approved 11/27/02
AOS & EAD applied 7/24/02 (receipt date 8/8/02) to Chicago
EAD card issued 9/26/02
AOS approved 6/3/03
For the AOS interview today:
We waited about 30 minutes on the 2nd floor then 2 minutes on the 23rd.
The interviewer did not ask for any evidence although we had enough if it
were necessary.
She swore us both in & looked at both our IDs. Asked my wife, the K-1er, if
she had been arrested, ever claimed she was a citizen, ever used false
documentation, was she working, and asked us both if we had any children.
My wife had to give one fingerprint & sign underneith.
She took her EAD card & stamped her passport. In and out in about 15 min.
Regards,
John & Nok

By the way, the Vaccination Supplement was not necessary.

First Congratulations!
I start to worry about my case. I submitted AOS application (from F-1 to PR, my wife is citizen) Feb. 2002, and finger printed July, 2002 and haven't got AOS interview yet. And these days seeing people submitted Feb, 2003 and July, 2002 got approved. Kind wonder what is going on with my case. I also start to suspect that Chicago office handles case according to where we live. For example, I live in Lake County, maybe the people in charge of Lake County are very slow.
Many many wonderings and frustration.

Congratulations! Sounds like you must have sent in a pretty comprehensive original application for it to go so smoothly. I know there are people ready to file I-485 who'd probably like to hear how you prepared your original application.

Oh and (I'm a mindreader), Rete would very much like you to post your experience on Kamya.com. As would we all.
Congratulations again on smooth sailing

Possession of either indicates permanent resident status (usually conditional at first if you're adjusting based on marriage), the right to work, enter and exit the country without advance parole (as long as you don't stay away too long). When you have I-551 you no longer need EAD which, on a slightly grumpy note, means I paid to file EAD for nothing since it's been superceded by the green card before I ever got (I will one day!) an SSN.

Congrats on the interview.
I have my AOS interview next week in Chicago and was wondering how long it
took you to get through security etc.
I don't want to arrive too early and have a long wait while on the other
hand I don't want to be late for the interview due to me standing waiting
to get through security.
Any info appreciated.
David

We went through Chicago a few days ago for our AOS. There is no prblem going through security and handing in your letter on the 2nd floor. Its not even a few minutes. Just about as long as as the "interview" after the inevitable seemingly endless wait!

What's the interview letter say?
I received one a couple days ago. Under the item of "Reson for" it said
"Interview for your I-130, Petition for Alien Relative". But my I-130 had
been approved by INS Nebraska Service Center for months. My wife's lawyer
said it is AOS interview. If it is, why not say so?
Thanks for any reply.

We went up to the 2nd floor immediately then waited 30 min. after our
scheduled interview time to be called up to the 23rd floor where we were
seen immediately. I'd arrive as close to my interview time if I were you.
We came about an hour early & waited for nothing.
You can sit in the waiting areas.
