Hi Karen,

You may be in for a bit more of a wait, but I can't say for sure. We
applied for my husband's EAD renewal in September. We had our green card
interview in November, but due to the unfortunate freeze he didn't get his
551 stamp that day. His EAD was going to run out in Mid-December, so I
fussed a little at the INS office and they made him a new EAD that day since
we had driven all the way over from Alabama. But the woman making the EAD
cards told him he would most likely get the regular appointment letter at
some point to get his EAD, which he could just ignore. The EAD renewal
appointment showed up in Mid-January with an appointment date of January
29th. By that time, my husband would have been over a month out of date on
his EAD. It was a good thing I complained back in November!

Anyway, from what I understand, if you have your receipt, but don't get your
EAD appointment in 3 months, I think you can go to the Atlanta office, wait
in line, and get your EAD that way. Quite frankly, I think it is ridiculous
to have to wait in line because of their lack of organization and screw ups.
You may want to try calling your congressman or senator before you wait in
line. They may be able to encourage the INS to get you an EAD appointment.

By the way, my husband is still waiting for his green card approval. It has
been 3 months of waiting now.
Bye for now,
Barbara

The EAD processing for ATL as posted on Matt's site is 60-90 days. That has been the length of time posted for many, many months. It used to be (back in the good old days before extra checking delayed things) that ATL was one of the slower ones compared to others that had ONE DAY processing rates. So nothing's changed, .

My husband received his EAD from ATL a few days before X-mas. He applied for the EAD at the end of October (sorry, I can't remember exact dates). His fingerprinting appointment was on November 8. The total time was around 60 days...Not too bad, although it seemed like forever!
