I saw a message posted by a law firm yesterday advising ALL their clients NOT to
travel outside the US at this time incase they don't get back in.

I understand their caution, but is there any evidence that immigration is turning
away in-status visa-holders at the borders at this point since the horrible attack?

We're intending on going down to Mexico for a week of vacation. We're H1B/H4, in
status, with all our paperwork and although it should not matter, neither of us are
of arab extraction; I'm British, my wife is Chinese.

Am I really taking some huge risk travelling abroad at this point (visa wise)? I
expected that legitimate travel would continue unimpeded.

I heard that some people in India could not get back. The consulated did not issue
the visa stamp.

I'm not talking about consulates issuing visas, we already have my visa stamps.
I'm talking about immigration officials at the border denying re-entry to H1B or
H4 visa holders who have left the country and returned a week later, after a
vacation or business trip or anything else. I'm talking about people with good
paperwork, in status.

I want to know if the law firm who posted the original message was being
over-cautious. It would shock me if this was happening on a regular basis at this
point. I might imagine that some tourists or B-1 visa holders would be scrutinized
heavily, but I would not expect mass denial of entry to H1s.

I'm not sure either of the reasons immigration would give for denying entry at the
border to people with visas already stamped. I believed this would only happen if
they had reason to believe that you lied on the original visa application.
