Default Airfare to New York

Hi all,

We are looking for reasonable airfare to bring my husbands boys across boxing day thru Jan 4th from Edinburgh to New York. Anyone know of any airlines having special deals. Every place we have looked is going to be about 2,000 US$. Any help would be appreciated.

It's that Sunday flight that's killing you. A quick search shows that flying
out on the Monday (5th) would be much much cheaper.

Andy.

Probably the cheapest way (and I know it makes the travel time longer) but if you "shuttle" them down from Edinburgh to London.
Then, the Virgin flight LHR-NewYork (26th-4th) is showing 477pound return.

I've found £546 from Glasgow to Newark with British Airways (switching at Heathrow) on those dates. Can you get them to GLA? (I know JockRail shut down on Boxing Day). Also managed £753 from Edinburgh which is pricey but lower than the $2000 above.

Alternatively I found £346 from Edinburgh to JFK with Air France changing in Paris if 29th December to 8th January is any good.

Hope this helps
Dave

Took another look and found £572 from Edinburgh on the original dates above, still with BA via Heathrow.

Not only that, you can usually find good deals flying out on christmas day
rather than the day before.

Try looking at flights leaving from Glasgow. My fiance got a flight from there to Chicago then to Louisville for about 550 quid (not during the time period you're looking at though). There should be a direct flight to New York, I would think. They can always take a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow, which is cheaper/easier than going down to London. I got a flight from Louisville to Newark to Glasgow from Dec 24th through the 28th, roundtrip, for about $720. Not cheap, and but better than $2000. I found it on www.travelocity.com

Cheers,
Jamie

Hi Jill & Kenny,

I looked at the place where I always used to book my flights
(Ebookers) and an earlier poster is right. It is the Sunday flight
(4th) that is killing you.

On Ebookers I put your original itinerary and it came up with a fare
of $985 per person. I then changed the return flight from the 4th to
the 5th and the price came down to $485 per person. Those prices are
British Airways, Taxes included and Ebookers is at www.ebookers.com

Good luck

Denis
