Default Affidavit Of Support

Can my US fiancee use her " retirement plan" funds as a affadavit of support.
She has her own company but doesn't want to put that forward.

Is she able to liquidate the funds within 1 year if necessary?

Some retirement plan funds are not available until you actually retire.

Or, if funds can be made available, the actual value is far less than the 'face value' because taxes and penalties may have to be paid.

Yeah she can liquidate her funds pretty quickly, also she has $100,000 in the bank. What it is she has wound down her company for the last couple of years because her mom got sick, so her income is pretty minimal for the last couple of years.

If she has $100,000 cash sitting in the bank, I'd say she's good to go. She probably should go ahead and list her minimal income and her retirement plan, but it's the cash in the bank that will win the ConOff's approval.

She should provide bank statements going back between 6 - 12 months to show that the $100,000 didn't just suddenly appear in there out of the blue.
