Hello,
Just a question for anyone who can help. My husband and I have an
appointment on Monday in Detroit for his AOS interview. We will have
been married 3 years in Oct. I know I am required to bring the last 3
years worth of tax returns with me. The first 2 years my income was
below the 125% poverty guidline, and my most recent tax return was
close to it, but not quite there yet, about $500 short. My husband just
recently started working for the first time since being in the US, a
full time job, just started 2 weeks ago, and has only had 2 pay checks
so far. They love him there and he enjoys the job, so Im sure he will
be there permanently. We have filed our taxes jointly the past few
years, but his income was 0. Will I have to have a co-sponser? Or is
there a way I can sponser him by myself? Or will the fact that hes
working now help out at all? Any info would really help! Thanks in

Last years taxes, not 3 years and current income is the big issue.

I would have a new Affadavit ready with the current financial position and include assets to make up the shortfall. 5 to 1 ratio.

Might be a good idea to have a co-sponsor to hand in case it becomes an issue.

Thanks for the help. On the appointment letter, it lists the items we
must have for the affadavit, and it does say "last 3 years tax
returns". Hopefully the last years is the one that they will mainly
look at. My husband also got a letter from him current employer stating
his job, wages, etc. We shall see...

They changed it 6? months ago, do a search.

And you have never had to meet the Income requirements for 3 years, just have filed taxes
