Unless you are visiting the US for a 'humanitarian emergency' then you must be in the
US to file for AP, the page sets out the information.
You can search the archives if you want. Or ask a lawyer.

the K1 is a single entry, non-immigrant visa. you cannot apply for AP until you enter
the US, get married and file for AOS. Think of it this way...the whole purpose of AP
is getting permission to leave the country without abandoning your AOS
application...if you don't even have an AOS (i-485) filed, how can you abandon it?
