We have a stable address there, one that we can use while we are looking for our own place... would that suffice?

Well... except that you're supposed to be living in the jurisdiction of the Service Center and District Office where you file. We've seen, many times, where people get called for interviews at an office that is half way across the US because they thought a "stable address" was more important than actually telling USCIS where they were! This then caused tremendous delays as the file must first be transferred to the jurisdiction and then another interview scheduled.

If you're going to be moving within a few weeks, you should move first, then file!

Here is personally what I would do. Not saying you should do this, but...

I would get married as soon as possible, as you indicated. Then I would move to Montana and rent a PO Box. Then I would file all the AOS paperwork using the PO Box mailing address. That way, even if you move around while finding your own place, you will still have the PO Box as a stable mailing address.

Or, if you have friends who live in Montana where you are moving, use their address.

I wouldn't use a temporary address to file AOS and then change address right after that.

Hi:

Yes. Particularly if the address is one where you will get mail even if the Postal Service screws up. To clarify -- lets say the address is stable because it belongs to a friend who will give you your mail, it should not be a problem.
