Zoom cancellation 28th June
#46
Out on the 19 July and back on the 2nd August. Lots to plan and organise before then. Hoping we will have pr visas by then and be able to land.
If I remember correctly you are over at the end of June beg of July so will be interested to hear how you get on.

There was me hoping that Zoom might be a bit better than the last couple of flights we've had to Calgary. We may have spent 8 hours in the dark because the fuse had blown on Air Canada, or had to chop a foot off because we were foolish enough to book window seats on Thomas Cook, but credit where it's due, they got us from a to b!
Sheduled airlines aren't always that good either. NWA cancelled my wife's flight without telling us. The first we knew was when her flight wasn't on the boards when we arrived at Heathrow. It turned out that they'd cancelled the flight to Calgary with one stop, so they rebooked her on a flight with two stops - so she did at least get to her intended destination, albeit 10 hours late. We could have booked cheaper flights with two stops, but decided that one was enough! Moreover, she was flying to her parents for Christmas, and didn't arrive until 10pm on Christmas Day due to the changes. Christmas dinner a la NWA - appetising huh?!

Boarded a NWA flight to detroit only to find out that we were to drop down in Boston as the flight was a pilot short. Got delayed several hours and they missed to reschedule me on to next flight to Orlando. Luckily, a KLM gold member card dangling off my handbag got me on the next flight in first class.
Still got there much later than planned.
Lufthansa neglected to tell AC that my flight out of GOT to FRA was delayed. They also neglected to put me on another flight. Had I not gone to transfer desk to enquire what the heck was going on, I would probably be hanging around in FRA still.
The only airline that really didn't **** around was Sabena. Sadly they do not exist anymore. (Although I hate Brusselles airport almost as much as CDG.)

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but just to add my tuppence-worth.
My last 3 long haul flights in a row:
Air Transat 2003 - Glasgow-Calgary - at airport about 6am, boarded plane about 9am, sat on the runway for an hour, back into the airport, sat all day at airport, flight cancelled at 6pm, children of ages 4 and 7, had been given a £5 voucher for use in the airport all day, put up in a hotel with scheduled soup and sandwiches at 9pm! Can you imagine? I ordered room service and downed a bottle of wine. We didn't fly out until 11am the next morning when a replacement plane was flown from Montreal. Problem was due to electrical fault on plane.
British Airways 2007 - Edinburgh-Heathrow-Calgary - at airport 7am, sat all day at airport, flight cancelled at 6pm, absolutely nothing from BA who told us to go home and rebook! This was due to Heathrow being fogbound but British Midlands managed to land several flights from Edinburgh that day. BA don't like having their crews displaced so it's cheaper for them to cancel the flight, rather than have their staff in the wrong location. Their customer service was SO appalling I will never, ever fly with BA again if there is another way to go.
Delta 2008 - Dublin-Newark-Orlando. At airport 7am, this time sat in departure lounge as we had gone through immigration control - not even a TV to keep you occupied. Was there till 4.30pm when flight finally cancelled. This time because only 3 toilets were working on the plane. At least Delta put us up in a Crowne Plaza and gave us a fabulous meal and their customer service was superb.
So, as you'll see none of that lot were Zoom or Canadian Affair. It's just a matter of luck, although my husband says it's me - I'm jinxed! I'm flying out with Zoom Glasgow-Calgary this year, so fingers crossed! At least I've learned to keep my underwear in my hand luggage when you don't get your case back! The funniest time in all that was when my husband, who has very sweaty feet, had to wash his socks in the hotel sink with hand soap and then hung them over one of those racks above the toilet. My 7yr old went to the toilet in the morning, did his business and then knocked hubby's socks into the toilet by mistake. I was so far gone by that time I had one of those hysterical fits of the giggles
Even hubby saw the funny side.:curse:
