I like the way everything is "awesome". Such as me traveling six feet without falling over in my first skiing lesson.

Oh, and the way both my girlfriend's boss and mine address us as "dude".

Rather more specifically Newfoundland than Canadian the most oft used phrase I hear or use is 'Whadyat?'. It can be used as a conversational opener in just about any circumstance. My favourite phrase which I do hear used occasionally has to be 'Lord tunderin jesass'.

Mrs AX's favourite english phrase of the week which I directed at her and a friend on Sunday afternoon during the course of a very boozy Paddys day afternoon in a pub is 'gibbering like a loon'. As in 'What are you two gibbering like a pair of loons about?'.

Re: You Suck.....

'You bet'
Seemingly it has no meaning and can be used in any circumstance.

Eg:

Me: 'thanks brent you're a gent'
Brent: You bet

OR

Shop assistant: Thanks, have a good evening
Me: Yeah, you too
Shop assistant: You bet

OR

Telesales bint: so you Mr C would you be interested in the offer
Me: No I dont think so. Its not really of interest me as the house is less than 12months old and doesnt need new windows just yet
Telesales bint: You Bet

My fav Canadian word is skookum!

As in that is a skookum car you have there.

(means large,heavy,big etc.)

I don't here 'you bet" out here on the west coast. We aren't really canadians though.

Love "one and one" or "double double" too!

That's almost as bad as my dad's favourite saying - "I'll put the kettle on - but it won't suit me";)

Hey I remember that line, it's from the Goon Show.:D:D

I think it went "Put the kettle on Min" to which Min replied "I already did Henry, it doesn't suit me.
