I think I've said previously that I wrote flu on my self certification forms several times when off sick and then I got real flu and realised the previous times were just a bad cold.

These days my colds are fortunately few and far between but hang around for a long time when they come. Possibly because it keeps passing from one to another in the house.
I get my shot free as I'm in an at risk category and there's no way I'm taking a chance on feeling that bad again...or dead.

In Ontario, one can get the flu shot at many (perhaps all) Shoppers Drug Marts on the province’s dime. No need to bother the doctor with this.

When dad got the flu he would buy a small bottle of rye and a ring of garlic sausage and go to bed. The illness would run it's course, and mom wouldn't get close enough to catch it.

And also in LOBLAWS pharmacy. Of course Loblaws owns SDM now.

One can in BC as well, at virtually all the pharmacies - free for those eligible and self pay if anyone else wants it.

Aye...it’s like migraine vs a headache With migraine you are totally immobilized with a severe headache you are not.

I'll get one next week on my day off. Did not get one last year and ended up with the flu which was not fun.

I qualify for the free shots and more folks might get them if everyone was covered for it without charge.

I recall hearing that about Ontario previously. Got their heads screwed on right there - I believe they help diabetics with supplies costs too.

Doc not involved here though. Just turn up on an arranged day and get it done by the nurse.

The bolded part being a feature in Ontario.

Any idea what the nasal version costs? My stepson won't take a needle - he won't! - but nobody ever knows the nasal cost.

Does he need it? apart from generating herd immunity
The nasal one is probably less good to get a decent immunological response. Costs will vary

Less good is better than no good.

But it's not as important as it used to be. My wife's immune system was such that everyone in the street was recommended to get it.

I exaggerate, but...

Immunising everyone isn't a bad idea- as for instance in AB and no doubt other provinces. It would slow the spread during an epidemic

I have never had the flu and I have never had a flu shot.

The only time I had it coming out of both ends was when I ate at a Greek restaurant that gave me food poisoning. Worst 24hrs of my life so far.

I've never experienced it myself but I'm aware that aardvarks carry a lot of germs.
