Look chaps, my mum drinks the tea here and has no complaints, as long as it's made from bottled water she is happy. This is a woman who has marched into cafe kitchens and shown them how to make tea properly.

If it's ok by her, then you lot are wrong.

We have been getting the Tetley British Blend from Walmart US since we got here 19 months ago and its fine. We were just pleasently suprised to find Yorkshire Tea suddenly being stocked and at a reasonable price too. The only time we came across Yorkshire Tea over here was at an English pavillion at an international festival in Brandon. We bought some but it cost a kidney!

We start to panic when our Yorkshire tea bag reserves drop below 240! One of our stipulations for our visitors from the UK is to bring a 240 box with them, and if they are big tea drinkers bring 2

I'll have to check it out. I know the European store (Glogowski's?) sells it but it seemed to be quite dear in there.

Several stores sell this brand such as London Drugs and a few others.
I dont drink it as I would feel dirty in drinking it just by the name alone.
I cant comment on if its good or not or tastes like piss as I haven't tried either;)

Of course we're wrong. When did hard facts and science ever stand in the way of an "it doesn't taste the same" opinion.

Look, people, Tetley Orange Pekoe teabags sold in every single Canadian supermarket are EXACTLY THE SAME as Tetley Original teabags sold in the UK. For those who make a special journey over the border to buy "English" Tetley in US Walmart stores - it's a wasted journey. Tetley sells the same product in the US as "Classic Blend", in Canada as "Orange Pekoe" and in the UK as "Original." The US "British Blend" is the same stuff as the Canadian "Bold Blend." They're made in the same place, on the same production line, using the same ingredients, but put in boxes with different words and pictures on them. Any difference in a brew made using the same water is entirely in the imagination of the drinker.

I expect dbd33 will be along soon to point out that the problem with Tetley Orange Pekoe is that it's metric.

And that the water boils at a lower temperature here.

Hmm, that's something to ponder although I'm not totally convinced. How come my biscuits when dunked, disintegrate quicker in Canadian made tea then? :(

How are the biscuits being stored and at what temperature?
Are they in a biscuit tin, do you open the pack and then just shove them in a cupboard, are they kept in a glass jar? Any of these combinations might have an adverse effect on how soggy your biscuits get when dunking them?

Are you on city water or a well system these could be factors as well.

City water, which everyone tells me is the best. As for my biscuit, these days I've stopped leaving it in as I had far too many unintended consequences. If anything its just the tip and only for a little bit.
