Default X Raying our container

Hey,

We have been in BC 5 weeks ago and our moving company notified us that the container had arrived in Customs in Vancouver but that it was randomnly picked out in Montreal to be Xrayed and would therefore cost us $250 for the privilege

We have mentioned this to a few of our Canadian and expat friends and nobody has heard of this happening before. We haven't seen any documentation yet to show that it has been done!

Has anyone else experienced this or know of someone else who has?

Its not uncommon for containers to be xrayed, its faster and cheaper than opening it, and going through it. Each port has different charges for inspections, there is even inconsistencies at each port.

Waves hello - yes - we had the pleasure - full unload, search and X-ray of all boxes. No issues in the end, but didn't stop me worrying.

Half a day's delay and $700 for us to pay in the end (to pay for company to unload and then reload onto a truck and then deliver - rather than the shipping container arriving outside the house as we had hoped/presumed would happen).

Hey ho - was stressed at the time, but looking back it was just another one of those little things.
