I wonder if there's a Coronavirus thread somewhere with the border as part of the discussion?

In theory only vaccinated are allowed over, so in theory a vaccinated American should be safer to be around than an unvaccinated Canadian.
I would venture the border being open, but not open open since you have to pay $$ for tests, and its just a pain, and only the most diehard Americans likely even entertain doing it, sure there was an initial rush, and my guess a good chunk of those in that first day rush have family in Canada and not necessarily run of the mill tourists.
Every time I check border wait times for BC almost always No Delay or under 5-10 minutes, nowhere near what would be expected this time of year.
For the US side, its political not on the part of Canada, the US wont likely wont open their side until they are ready to open Mexico border as well, seems to be the running theory in the US media.

As long as people are double vaxxed and can provide negative test results of a recent COVID test, open everything up to everyone again. People have lives to be getting on with.

Regarding the US border, the regulation should be reciprocal. The current regulation makes me feel discriminated.

At the time I posted, there was a thread helpfully titled Coronavirus right underneath the 'wrong decision' thread. It couldn't have been closer.
A search for 'border' in that thread revealed numerous results. I didn't think it unreasonable for someone to have done a cursory search to see if such an obviously hot topic was already being debated and then actually join in.
Despite that, for most people I would still have provide the link; they might be new.
But the OP has been a member since 2003. He also has a habit of posting and running and not joining in.
So I made an exception for him and was a little sarcastic.

I think by being non reciprocal it has made us appear weak.

It's not non reciprocal out of dislike for Canada, the US has 2 international land borders which complicates things for them.
It has also been mentioned the US CDC has advised not to reopen the borders at this time, and Biden seems more willing to listen to their guidance over matters than the previous president did.

It is also suggested that if the US opened this border, they would also have to re-open the Mexico border, and that would lead to even larger problems with illegal immigrants.
So I would say that this border might well remain closed until the US HAS to reopen both borders.
