Winter 2019/20 It's here

So our "Mr Plow" came to clear the snow ridge across our drive this evening. Across the street was a guy who was clearing around his car, with his ridge on the drive still to get to.
Mr Plow backed out of our drive, reversed and angled his truck towards the neighbour's ridge and in two pushes moved it off to the side, saving him the job.
Very nice.
But there was no obvious indication of gratitude. It's possible he called out a "cheers mate" or something, while he had his head down. But I'd have expected some sort of movement towards the good Samaritan. A wave, even. Just something.
I mentioned it to my mother in law who said she watched him do the same last winter with whoever was shovelling then seeming to fail to acknowledge the deed.

Our expected biggest snowfall (and wind, so visibility issues) of winter is currently well underway.
Not bad to get this far without anything major.

I believe Kootenay Pass was expecting up to 15 cm.
So no, not safe!
We had snow on Allison Passat the end of May a few years ago.

We had proper snow here within the past fortnight and still needed a log fire within the past week. The four months of not-winter are just about to start.

The four months of 'not-winter' is a brilliant expression.
I still remember having our post Christmas dinner coffee on the deck though.

If only Canada had a nice year round climate somewhere, guess coastal BC is as close as it gets but its still not ideal considering the amount of grey we can have.
Upside to the US, you can choose between arctic in Northern Alaska to near tropical in Hawaii/Guam/Puerto Rico and anything in between....ha ha
If I won the lotto, I think I would go to Guam or Hawaii and be done with cold altogether.
