Will you vote in the UK election?
Being a newbie here and still lots of interest in the UK for monetry reasons mainly, I will be voting back home this time around but not sure if that will continue as time goes on?
I would be interested to know who will be voting this time around? Here is the link to register for your vote if you do want to.... https://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/regist...r_to_vote.aspx |
Re: Will you vote in the UK election?
Although I have a civil service pension paid from the UK and I will be due my Retirement Pension at 65, I have lived in Canada for over 5 years. I'm not sure it would be fair for me to vote on UK matters.

Re: Will you vote in the UK election?
In the last constituency I lived in the conservative got in with a 20,000 majority in 1997. Even if I did think I still had the moral right to vote it wouldn't be worth the effort.

There is also the fact that being on the west coast it's probably not even possible with the postage times even if you really did want to vote.

Don't trust ANY of the oxygen thieving gits....
All politicians lie.....whatever the complexion. How do I know...their lips move.... Seriously, doubt I will....I doubt my vote would influence the exchange rate so I will waste my vote here in Canada...their lips move here too.... |

Re: Will you vote in the UK election?
I thought about it.
But the hassle of registration was enough for me not to bother. For me the only political figure with any real gravitas in the UK is Vince Cable- he has called nearly everything on the economy and actually understands how economics works. Labour and Tory just make it up as they go along. I don't expect a Liberal victory but a hung parliament with Cable in the cabinet as Chancellor of the Exchequer would satisfy me. Anyway I will leave it to the proles to decide..... |

Re: Will you vote in the UK election?
I can barely bring myself to vote in Canadian elections which do (questionably) affect my life. No chance of my sticking my oar into UK affairs, not after 12 years here and no intent to head back at any point.

Re: Will you vote in the UK election?
Nope, can't be bothered to either register or vote. The Brits are welcome to whichever moron they want! They're all as bad as each other anyhow!

I will be voting in by proxy, in Folkestone & Hythe. Whether I will continue to do so for 15 years, I'm not sure. However, since I currently have my pensions etc stuck in England waiting for a better exchange rate :fingerscrossed: I feel like I have enough of a stake in the UK for the election to be relevant to me. |

LOL. It's fair to say that he has been absolutely correct on every issue...exactly 50% of the time. When you argue in favour of nationalising banks and oppose nationalising banks, in favour of economic stimulus and against economic stimulus, in favour of raising the top rate of income tax and against raising the top rate of income tax etc etc. you're bound to call everything right. A quick look through newspaper archives for articles he has written will confirm!
