We have them in Ontario too :( There's been over 1000 so far this year.

Ontario is receiving support from across Canada, the United States and Mexico to assist with the fire situation. A total of 307 firefighters and support staff, along with equipment, are currently in the province from:
  • Alberta
  • British Columbia
  • Newfoundland
  • Northwest Territories
  • Nova Scotia
  • Prince Edward Island
  • New Brunswick
  • Saskatchewan
  • Quebec
  • Wisconsin, USA
  • Mexico
  • Parks Canada

Air quality is 10+ at 157 in Red Deer. Eyes sting, throat is sore, so glad I don't have breathing issues. Advice is to limit outdoor activities. I think it's sad all the trees and animals being lost.

I don't why they're getting upset, it's been pretty chilly here for the last couple of days.

We live in a rural area, surrounded by trees. A brush fire has started less than 500m from our house. Preparing to evacuate.....

+1. I suppose we all still reject a carbon tax and renewable energy sources? https://www.esrl.noaa.gov/gmd/ccgg/trends/

OMG - please get out if it's safe to do so, take your animals if you can... and stay safe... keeping everything crossed for you...

When looking for a place to live in BC, we never took fires into account. Some of the towns we were looking at have been affected this year and previous years.

The article shows photos from Prince George this morning. At 9am it was still dark outside due to smoke.

Good luck!! Hope you are all safe

It's hitting a bit close to home, family-wise ..........

We have a niece and family who live in the Smithers-Prince George area where there is a huge fire. I think they are at a safe distance from it at the moment, but who knows how it will go over the next few days?

Plus, niece's in-laws live in the St Mary's Valley near Kimberley which is under evacuation order. We've met them 2 or 3 times ......... they've lived in their house in that rural area since the 1960s

Personally, Vancouver is safe, except for the constant haze, but I am finding the continual sore throat a little annoying ......... but nothing to worry about when compared to everything else that is happening in the province.
