Who should be dead?!

Just watched a BBC4 documentary about The Who and hubby and I were commenting on Keith Moon - tragic to die so young, but some people are meant to, particularly rock stars etc. Then we got into a discussion about people who, perhaps, should have died young. So, who should have died young, instead of becoming ridiculous?

For starters:

Top of my list:

Alex James (Blur)

Top of Hubby's list:

Morrissey
Paul Weller

All people who would have been remembered well if only they'd died young!

So, go on, who should be dead ......:D

Are we limited to Rock Stars? There are a few Soap Stars this could apply to.:D

Well, no. Not really. He may be a bland boring old fart, but compared to Maggie and Tony he's golden.

No, no no,....

This is not who would you like to be dead!

It's more about who's reputation would be so much greater if they'd died young?

e.g. would James Dean have been an icon if he'd lived to be 85 and done 70-odd crap films?

Politicians definitely not allowed :D

Actually figure skaters age well. Pete Doherty should be dead by now, I would have put money on it. I wish Avril was dead to put me out of my misery.

Look here Mrs DV, you're new. Just because you start a thread doesn't mean you can say what it's about. ;)

Now, getting back to Maggie Thatcher.... she should be held personally responsible for <fill in the blank>. And then shot.

Ivana Trump. She had style before she needed ironing.
(Did you see the wedding to the intellectually challenged thirty five year old? Uggh...)

Priscilla Presley.
(Wrong one croaked out of that partnership).

Tony Blackburn.
(Anyone who can retain flesh-crawler status into their old age deserves to have met their maker years ago).

Burt Reynolds.
What has he done to his face this time?

Germaine Greer.
Shuffling off this mortal coil after the Female Eunuch would have been a good plan.

OK lets be controversial.

What would the UK be like NOW if Margaret Thatcher had been defeated by James Callaghan in the 1979 Election.

Come on then, who's up for it.......

So many good suggestions, Noel and Morissey esp.

Simon Cowell - A world with even one fewer short-lived manufactured boybands/one-hit-wonders is only a better one. Botox has done him no favours either.

A guy I worked with when I was 18 convinced me of Maggie's merits and the benefits we saw afterwards. Yet to decide if he was right or I was just young and impressionable.

Oooh, I am! For starters, there'd still be some respect for the working class in the UK. The poor buggers who died (on both sides) in the Falklands war, would still be alive (maybe). Tony Blair would never have happened. I would possibly consider one day returning to England. Just conceivably, the UK would have embraced membership in the EU instead of becoming a pariah. Ronald Ray-gun would have been as isolated as he deserved. There might have been no stupid reliance on individualism. Social concepts might still be something that people think about. Property values might not define whether or not you have "succeeded". Lastly but not leastly, Grantham would never have been heard of.

I always thought he was yob with a big ego mediocre musical talent, even in 1995.

maybe, but he helped change the direction of the music scene and opened the door for a stream of new and probably more talented bands who otherwise would never have existed.

Phil Collins should have had the decency to fall off his perch the moment Peter Gabriel left Genesis, and spared us from all his later nonsense.

Also David Bowie should have had the good sense to accidentally overdose immediately after the Berlin period.:D
