I've had a sudden wish for some whisky marmalade.

A bit of home has some but it's in titchy jars and would cost nearly $50 including delivery for the equivalent of a couple of normal sized jars.

Harrods has a bigger but still small jar and is probably not a good deal by the time other costs are added.

Irritatingly both Amazon UK and USA has some that looks well worth it but neither will deliver to Canada.

Has anyone found any anywhere that's not outrageously priced?

I'm not really interested in trying to make any - although maybe my mother in law might give it a go - but can I add whisky to a jar? Does that work? How much?

You can buy marmalade in any grocery store, whisky in your liquor board shops and a spoon should you need one almost anywhere.

Seriously though sloshing some wine into an already cooked casserole isn't going to work as well as adding it earlier. I imagine something similar might apply to adding whisky to a jar of marmalade.

But I can also imagine that the right amount of whisky added to marmalade and allowed to permeate for a period might provide something approaching the real thing.

Maybe someone can offer something helpful on that issue.

Or point me in the right direction of a reasonably priced supply.

Of all the things in the world you can develop a sudden craving for, whiskey marmalade isn't something that would immediately pop up.

Can't you just have a tipple with your toast and have done with it?

A tipple for breakfast? I couldn't even do that when I was young.
These recipes seem too fiddly for me. I don't want to make that much either and I doubt the recipes can be scaled down too much.

I'd just buy a nice jar of marmalade and slosh a bit or a lot of whiskey in. Put the lid back on and leave somewhere to mature. This works with Christmas Cake and sure it will be a huge improvement.
