We've stayed a couple of times at Hidden Ridge Resorts, and I'd stay there again. They've got lovely hot pools with an amazing view, and the chalet's were great for our big family.

t's the only place I have ever stayed in Banff. Not cheap, but I assume you will only stay in Banff once, so you may as well do it in style
Likewise, always stay at the springs when in Banff. There is nowhere else like it.

We have stayed at the Delta Lodge in Kananaskis and the Fairmont in Calgary - these supposedly 'better' hotels in our experience are not. They tend to be more run down and in need of overhauling than cheaper run of the mill places, we're always dissapointed when the expectations of a posher hotel are not met. Our last stay at the Delta ended up being free, it was so bad.

What was so bad about the Delta? We have stayed there loads of times and have always found it to be excellent.

I wouldn't describe the Delta as particularly posh. It is the only one around for miles so doesn't need to be competitive. It's prices are usually fairly reasonable as well, not as cheap as Super 8, nothing like as expensive as the Fairmonts.

The service was terrible and the 1st time we stayed (on a Sunday) there was a staff party with loads of noise - fair enough Sundays are probably the quietest night for such things, the following morning after very little sleep (having complained about the previous nights noise) we were woken by the tradesmen's ghetto blasters, so we had a complimentry stay for a future date.

The future date arrived, the room was dirty and the remote missing, the room service we had was still frozen amongst other things, it's not worth our money to stay there again.

If you go to Banff, definitely go to the Saltlik! Such a good steakhouse its near the cinema I think and the big LCBO, can't remember what street its on but the food is amazing!

If you want a nice friendly bar/pub go to Tommy's, thats on Banff ave.

Go to the hot springs up sulphur mountain for sure and check out the historic ones, they stink but its worth a visit!

The rimrock is a sweet hotel for the views but its expensive in the summer especially for the room size, make sure you pay extra for the view because if you don't you could be paying alot for just a view of a carpark....

Have fun! I spent six months there and I still miss it
