Where to find squash
Hi this is my first, but not last, silly question. Can anyone point in the direction of a squash alternative please. I can find fruit juice, and frozen fruit juice, but nothing like Robinsons or Ribena that you dilute with water.
Thank you muchly. H x |

Re: Where to find squash
Certainly here in Alberta I've found Ribena fairly readily available (although not so much as in the UK) in most supermarkets or liquor stores too. It is fairly expensive here and only seems to come in small size bottles. I have found Robinsons in some of the British shops.
Have you tried the frozen juices? You dilute these with water too and I really like them. Personally, I prefer them to squashes from back home. I hope you find something you like.

you'll be surprised at how easy it is to find a store stocking UK and Irish items.

Re: Where to find squash
It's not always in the most obvious place in the supermarkets either (ie with the rest of the drinks). Sometimes it can be found in the 'foreign food' section. There is a garage near us that sells loads of UK stuff at super-inflated prices. If you find Robinsons squash, expect to pay anything from $5-$8 per bottle!

Re: Where to find squash
On a point of pedantry:
In Canadian English Squash means a family of vegetables of the pumpkin, courgettes, eggplant variety. |

I've mostly switched to the frozen juice, but that does mean I have to make a whole jug some time before I want to drink it. |

More importantly is the plural Squashes or Squash?
I kind of hoped it would be squish. |
Re: Where to find squash
Most garden centres sell squash, you could grow your own :)

Re: Where to find squash
Hi and Welcome!
Grocery stores like Canadian Superstore, Walmart etc sell Ribena. There will also be British shops dotted around (where are you??) where you can buy squash etc. |
Re: Where to find squash
Jugs of fruit punch (from frozen cans), juice, coolaid (from powder sachets) etc are the reason fridges here are so big I think. I can get Ribena locally, but its very expensive I think.
Ive made my own Orange and lemon squash/cordial in the past, its not that hard to do, but mostly we use frozen juice or cool aid type things. |
