Default Where to eat Calgary downtown?

Hubby and I are staying Downtown Calgary on Saturday and was hopeing for some reccomendations on where to eat. We are staying at the Palliser so want somewhere within a shortish walking distance. We're not into fine dining so will be avoiding the hotel restaurant. Oh and OH will get travel sick if we were to dine in the Calgary Tower restaurant

The Keg and the Saltlik are good in my opinion.

There are certain Kegs that are crap I must admit.

The one round the corner from us is no match to the one in Old Strathcona.

If you go to the Saltlick order the Scalloped Potatoes They are to die for.

It can be both...I guess it depends on the day and the time you go.

Generally whenever i have been there it is a quiet pub throughout the day and after 7 at night it's a lot busier and more drunkards.

Wish i'd seen this post last year, We had to find something quick for the kids to eat in calgary - ended up in McD's on the pedestrianised street downtown (8th??) and I walked in on a drug deal going on in the washroom, the whole place was full of the least desirable clientele i have ever seen in a restaurant - we left very quickly!

Murietta's is really good, and I think it's pretty close to the Palliser.
