I bought it anyway, I always do. It's simply a gesture in appreciation of the suffering of conscripts in the world wars. No one else.

Oh dear. It's not even November yet, but +1, followed by -1 for the poppy. I don't think the $ actually goes to First World War conscripts any more.

Let's not blow our loads prematurely. There's a fortnight to go.

Good advice. I assume your wife is a very patient one?

the poppy looks nice on my coat and distracts from all the stains.

All of them? Surely not. There are far too many.

The trick is to put it on then bend a hook in the pin so it doesn't fall out right away.

I always have someone each year comment that I don't have a poppy on. I'll generally pop in a dollar or 2 into the box, but I don't take a poppy nor wear one. Usually is an older person who gets on my case about it.

It can be almost bully like some years over the poppy button.

Just put a dime in and take the poppy so they stop getting on your case.

That's rude, what you wear is your business. You could tell them that, or that you're allergic. ;)

I'm waiting for Saturday when all of the halloween decorations get taken down and the Christmas ones start going up, and then all of the complaints on Facebook about it being disrespectful, although I'm not sure how. I'm personally not a fan of Christmas Decs until December, but that's because Christmas isn't in November.

Poppies I will wear if I happen to buy one, many years I don't though. I think a lot more of the money goes to poppy makers than veterans. I take time to think and thank. On the whole, it seems politically correct to look like you're doing the right thing, regardless of whether you actually are or not, just post that you are on Facebook and it'll be ok.

As for trolls, I don't think I am. Housewife? Yes. Bored? Yes, although not always the time to annoy others too much with it I hope.

Not very good yet. Keep trying. 1 out of 10 for correct spelling. Another half mark deducted for poor punctuation.

Ahem.....

I never understood the Christmas before Remembrance Day = disrespect either, it's certainly not something that was common in the US and had no idea what the issue was when I got to Canada.. (Although the US holiday is called Veterans Day and while on the same day, has a different meaning.)

Traditionally in the US Christmas decorations go up after Thanksgiving which is at the end of November.

Wal-Mart and other stores around me have had Christmas stuff up since late August, even before the Halloween stuff was out.

Because the US only turned up for the last 7 months.
