Could you not find a lawyer to sue the person who has caused this humiliation towards you? Make the claim that your self esteem has been destroyed and you no longer feel confident. The amount of stress has caused you to feel insecure about going out in public and you are no longer able to concentrate and function at work. You have lost weight or putting on weight due to this traumatic event. You have been prescribed umpteen medications and visiting a therapist and receiving counselling.

Yup telling a co worker to go and get a bucket of steam, a sky hook, a left handed hammer etc etc or a can of tartan paint will do things like that.
Some people can handle a joke/prank some cant. Unfortunately this ended up in the death of a person. Nobody could forsee these consequences but somebody needs to take the blame or suffer the consequences or not.
Of course the experts are now saying the DJs could be charged under the following
The New South Wales state Surveillance Devices Act prohibits the broadcast of recorded private conversations without participants' permission, with violations punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to 55,000 Australian dollars, or about $57,000 Cdn.

So when I call and ask a new BSO what requirements are required to import a gorilla into Canada am I
1. Humiliating them
2. Giving them practice on what regulations, permits are needed to import a gorilla. They would consult the AIRS programme, check the WAPPRIITA regs.
3. Being a dick but also giving them valuable knowledge as per #2.

Alan can only speak for himself. I'll happily laugh at my own expense if I find it funny. If not, I'll tell the prankster they're a cnut. In the nicest possible way, of course.

Some can't, exactly so, and you would be able to judge who can and can't take this er humour??

Yeah, we used to do all that stuff in the olden days. Now it would be disciplinary action.

That's good if you can do it. Not everyone can. Practical jokers need to pick their victims carefully or give it up.

You're deputy editor of an online thing. You've got a nothing job anyway. You're a piece of shit. This low thing, Alison Stephenson, deputy editor of news.com.au online. You're supposed to be impartial, you little troll."

To be fair that was someone totally different to these two and has, according to wiki (I think that's where I saw it) a very long list of offending all and sundry.

Anyone remember a Japanese candid camera style stunt - maybe on a Clive James show - where some "villains" got hold of some innocent guy and accused him of owing them money.

They had him in a multi-storey or underground car park, strapped to a pillar with a "bomb" complete with countdown display.

And left him while the time was counting down.

Now THAT would be stressful.

And it was bloody funny.

I have to admit I can laugh at myself if I do something dumb (often) but remember thinking when watching Beadles About, that if that were me on the recieving end, I'd probably end up in jail for assult. (Fact).

I only used to watch it to see if anyone did actually totally lose it (as in even when the joke was exposed they'd lamp someone).

Actually years ago on our local council estate some of the lads (grown up not kids) wrote in and asked if they could play a joke on the owner of the local footie fields (as in dig them up or something) because the owner was a big brash and very hard Irish guy. And they only did it because if it were succesful - it would have ended in a bloodbath. He loved his football fields

This is an after the fact spin on the call in order to load the argument

I thought it was particularly cruel to continue to play the tape of the 'prank' on their radio station at least 7 hours after they realised the nurse had died.

Don't like that...or the idea that by being "constantly fragile" these two kids are going to be celebrated for the rest of their lives....nor do I like the idea that we send them to a permanent professional Coventry either...where does the line in the sand get drawn where all of the participants and families of this brouhaha
Can move on?

I think a wicker man style burning of these DJ's would be quite cathartic for all involved.

Wouldn't that be considered a prank? ;)

can't we just find a nice goat or something and run it over a cliff? Then everyone will feel better.

If you've got a spare goat don't waste it, let me know.

FL gave me the idea of using it to keep the grass down and to make cheese to go with my home made bread !

This'll explain it :)

Doesn't matter. If you wear a pair of wellies and stuff it's back legs in too - there's no getting away.....

.... Or so my Welsh friend used to tell me !

I thought it was always why do kilts not have zippers or velcro strips?
Because goats have good hearing.
