Hi to all you anglers and others.
Just started the ball rolling with regard application and hope to make it there one day. Am aware of the vast size of the place.
Whats the wild fishing like. Not interested in fishing where the rivers /lakes are artificially stocked and bred.
I would very much like to just take a tent/sleeping bag, some grub possibly an old landrover as far as it will take me and venture into the wilderness. Yes , wild trout fishing using some worms, spinners and possibly a few flies.
Not interested so much in the package fishing tours. I know a sexy little stream, river or brook when i see one!
I suppose it would be a good idea to go with company just in case something happens off the beaten track?
Anyone into this sort of thing and done it? Whats the cost of the rod licence and do you have to pay for the wilder remote type rivers/streams. Whats the fishiing like
I would however be nervous of the average mr grizzly bear shredding my butt whilst ime baiting up. Do you need to take a rifle with you or just roll over play dead and pray to god he doesn't tamper with you?

Based on the rest of your post, I would say that you don't have the foggiest clue regarding the "size of the place"..... Canada isn't the tin of sardines you call England.
What part of Canada are you asking about? If you could narrow it down to a few thousand square miles, I could tell you what the fishing is like there.

As i mentioned i appreciate it is a vast country. I dont claim to be Mr Geography by any means but you could probabaly drop a similar land area to the uk in one of Canada's lakes its so large.
Ok then as an example of yet still a huge area - what about BC as a fishing area? But not so much interested in the stocked lakes and rivers.

In general, BC is arguably Canada's best province for fishing. We have saltwater fishing and freshwater fishing... so it depends on where and what you want to fish.
BC has good salmon fishing in the Pacific Ocean and many of the rivers. World-class trout fishing can be had in its rivers and lakes. Some rivers have "steelhead" trout which are large ocean-going rainbow trout. Northern lakes often hold large lake trout. Many southern lakes are stocked with trout, but these are public lakes, and are very wild/natural places up in the higher altitudes.

Thanks for the reply. I do take in whats being said - Canada is a huge country. Have taken a look at the websites - thankyou for info.
To be honest ime quite happy to catch the odd 1 to 2lb trout . Ime aware that some of the trout over there are in the big weight group. Have only fished small rivers and streams in comparison in Wales most of the time. Have taken up seafishing as the old evening rise on the rivers not so evident anymore. The natural fly population not so evident any more. From an outsiders viewpoint Canada seems a trout fishermans drean. Huge natural country with few human beings to poisin and polute and ruin it. If this is the case long may it continue.
There must be multitudes of small sreams/ tributiries etc that contain decent fish. Consider yourself very lucky.

Just wanted to share with you my experience of fishing in Ontario. Although I used to be a keen angler in the UK (never any good though
) I have not had much chance to do any since we returned last year to Canada after 5 years in the uk. A couple of buddies and I drove for about 4 hours out of Toronto, heading towards the "wilderness", where upon we had scheduled a float plane to fly us a further 45 mins out into more wilderness, of which is only accessible by foot or canoe. After loading all our gear (tents, cooking stuff, etc) the guy (ex Air Canada pilot) flew us to a remote lake, which was basically ours for the next few days. The only thing that was there was a small boat with a tiny outboard and a picnic table for us to sit at, everything else was wild living. We fished for small and large mouth bass and caught them by the bucket load upon which we would cook them in the evening with some veggies etc we brought with us.
I cant begin to express what it felt like to be out there, but it is such a fantastic experience, the fact that at night after eating the fish we had caught and having a few beers and a fat one
you could just lie there and watch the stars and not hear a single mechanical noise anywhere. A truly wonderful time. After we left canada my buddies continued to go every year, religously, now I am back I will be going again this fall!!I dont suppose the fishing can be as remote and beautiful as it is out west but it is still much better than I could imagine in the UK. The cost was never a massive amount, but split between 3 / 4 of you it works out much cheaper. Never had a problem with wildlife, only saw birds and those bloody snapping turtles, I suppose if a bear come along we were screwed, after all we were on a small island and the plane was a phonecall / 45 min flight away
I highly recommend it, fly-in fishing is the best way to get to the remote parts.

I don't have my own boat yet but know good spots where I can stand on the rocks and catch my walleye limit in 20 minutes - it's that easy! Walleye, trout and pike are the catch of the day here in NW Ontario.
You do have to have a permit and the limit is 4 walleye in your possession on any one day, that includes what you have in your freezer (the MNR will spot check). You have to carry your permit with you when you have fish in your possession and have to leave a skin tag on once filletted in order to permit identification of the fish.
Or like me you catch, fillet, cook and eat in the same spot!

What a coincidence......it looks just like the one we chartered!!
It is the one you chartered numb nuts
I know that dummy, jeez
