Anyone gardening these days? Here on Vancouver Island, the spring flowers, magnolias, and fruit tree blossoms are pretty well past but all kinds of rhododendrons, clematis, peonies and other perennials are out. Planted lots of veggies about three weeks ago and the peas, beans, carrots, and beets are all doing well. Gooseberry and blackcurrant bushes blooming away. Been cutting the grass and weeding for about two months now (not continuously) - a bit of a chore but better than shovelling snow. What's anybody else got growing?

We went to a tree sale the weekend before last and bought trees. 27, I think. Now we have trees growing.

I have some herbs and HID has some flowers. Last year I grew some tomatoes but they tasted a bit yucky.

Ha.
Just last week my stepdaughter and mother in law started a little garden.
Small things first...onions, garlic, a few herbs. Tomatoes next I think.
Leeks would be good....they're so expensive in the shops.

spring bulbs have been doing their thing. Crocuses been and gone, daffs in full flood, tulips and hyacinths coming in now. Forsythia is flowering. Magnolia is about to burst forth. Lilac is probably another week or so away. Next door's flowering cherry is looking spectacular. And there's a flower bud on the rhododendron I was convinced was as good as dead, so that's good news...
Veggies started indoors won't be planted out until the weekend after next, probably, and we'll see about commercially-grown seedlings after that. This year we'll probably have a similar sort of veg crop to last year's - peas, beans, carrots, cucumbers, leeks, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, onions, and a few herbs.

The jasmine climber is not (growing well) and is in need of resuscitation.
