I have never heard anyone mention how many batteries a plane would need to carry a few hundred people from say the US to Britain.

Airliners don't use batteries. They run off the mains.

I'm so glad I jumped at the solar fad. My own micro-study, in which I compared my electricity bills pre and post solar panels, demonstrate that assuming our usage doesn't change, our system will pay for itself in 3 years. Both the panels and the inverter have a 10 year warranty. I hope you weren't paid for examining those installations and arriving at your conclusion.

You 'did a study' in order to conclude that solar is 'no good at night'?! Not meaning to be rude, but  You don't need to conduct a study to understand that the sun doesn't shine at night. Did your study miss battery storage? And to what extent did you include households that use the bulk of their energy in the day, whether by circumstances (not all households have no occupants during the day!), or by design (appliances with timers).

Yeah, I'd stick with the vokda and tonics if I were you.

Well... If there's one thing I have learned today is don't try to explain adult ideas to a child. Have a nice life

Thanks, I'm having an absolutely wonderful life  Sorry I pointed out the huge holes in your argument, I know it's unpleasant to realise that you've made mistakes but if you take it on board it'll help both your understanding of the issues and your credibility.

The Lo Cost versions will use passenger pedal power - now that will be eco friendly!

I am still trying to figure out which is better for the planet, a plastic toothbrush made in Mexico or a bamboo toothbrush made in China.
