Also the Canadian way of life and attitude to work and life is very different and i adopted that pretty quickly, i surrounded myself with freinds and peers that could better me as a person. Im probably being a bit dramatic but the outlook on life of the people of Basildon was pretty bleak. I wonder if i had stayed there much longer would I have been swallowed up by that "Everyone owes me something, and im gonna bang out some interacial kids to get me a council house" mentality |
Re: What would you be doing?
I would have been approaching my 20th year as a copper
OMG - the move alone was worth escaping the past month in that job in the UK ;) I would have still been dragging up two young ladies as best as possible - but with less dance classes, and more elocution  I would not have succumbed to having two dogs in the house - of that, I am sure - but hey, it has worked out pretty well. I think I would enjoy the off-leash freedom more in the UK. I would have had annual trips to Spain to soak up sun and wine and friendship with a best mate - who I have now not seen for 3 years. :( I would have down-sized from our large home to a more modest and affordable home. I would never have had the time to join a choir or do a gardening course. I would never have been daft enough at 42 years of age to think that learning to ski was a good idea for me  I would have been planning camping trips to Europe, and visiting the sea several times a year for a gorgeous wind-swept walks. I would be ignorant of the fact that I could ever have missed orange and pineapple squash. |
