What would you be doing?

Lots of stuff about how great/crap/what ever, Canada is.

But, if you were still in the UK now, today, what do you think you would be doing.

I emailed a friend who still works as a pi in the uk and he had not been home for two weeks. I used to work with him, so that would be what i would have been doing. Two weeks of twin room travelodge life and 10 hr days in the east end of London. And on top of that a pay drop. What! Yep cash is tight and bonuses have been slashed. Omg.

Rule Britania..lol

Sometimes when I read news items about Britain, it's like the whole place is rotating in the death throes of a giant swirly.

(Swirly - The process of sticking someone's head in the toilet and flushing)

Much the same as what I'm doing now, retired.

Well, I am back in the UK, our day so far:

The kids and I did the local parkrun (5k run with a few hundred other in a beautiful British park)

After the run the kids played in the skate park while I sat in the sun with a nice coffee

Went for brunch

Popped into Waitrose :)

I did some grass cutting / gardening while kids went around the village doing chores for a donation to a local charity

Don't believe all you read in the papers, Blighty aint so bad ;)

I'd be racing motorbikes this weekend with my mates :(

I'd be doing the exact same work for the exact same company for the same equivalent money.

I'd be very much enjoying life as much as i am now, only a little closer to my family.

I'd also be paying as much attention to the media as i do now............very little.

Life would be brilliant

I did build an RC model plane back in the late 40's but only got to fly it free-flight until I could afford the electronics. It all came to an end when His Majesty ( King George) told me I had to join th RAF for a couple of years.

I am thinking of joining a Martial Arts club, I hope they accept 81 year olds. My 53 year old son doesn't think it's a good idea. But then he takes his life in his hands cycling to work in Washington DC.

Re: What would you be doing?

I would hope to have progressed in my work ( I was up for promotion when we left) as long as there hadn't been cuts in the part of the civil service I worked in, I would hope my husband had started up on his own so was happier in his work. I would hope we had moved to a slightly larger house.

Other than that, looking at the calendar for Billing Aquadrome, we would be there for the show and shine - probably tomorrow though as Sundays are the bigger days in the UK.

Ditto, well apart from the motorbike racing. I'd probably be pottering about instead, most likely in a shed.

Sounds like a typical weekend here in Ottawa, except it would be Tim Hortons for brunch.
