Mr Bean you mentioned Lonestar, is that the Lonestar from Cardiff in the mid 70s or Lonestar the recent country band. The former was one of my favorite bands back then the ended way to soon.

I forgot Simple Minds in ‘86, the night England were playing in the World Cup.
As you were.
As you were.

In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
Subdivisions
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth
The unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe
The restless dreams of youth
Drawn like moths, we drift into the city
The timeless old attraction
Cruising for the action
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night
Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
I think this is more something that DBD can identify with.

I knew the nanny of the children of one of Rush. I drove her home a few times. Nannies and children are another world from being the world's thinnest man narrowed by the daily smack. His is a dark urban world, theirs the affluent inner 'burbs. That's why his work has wit and style and themes and theirs is Yes lite tonal poems which make Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Hare Hare seem an inspired comment on the human condition.
That particular lyric seems to be a schoolboy attempt at the style of the Talking Heads' The Big Country though, I suppose, any of Rush must be old enough to be David Byrne's dad.
Face it, if Foster and Jordan had heard Rush, Etta James would have had a huge hit with "I'd rather go deaf", Rush are only inflicted upon us by government regulation, they are the Lada of the music industry (and yes, I know they're rabid neo-cons).

My life is brilliantMy life is brilliant
My love is pure
I saw an angel
Of that I'm sure
She smiled at me on the subway
She was with another man
But I won't lose no sleep on that
'Cause I've got a planYou're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
I saw your face in a crowded place
And I don't know what to do
'Cause I'll never be with youYes, she caught my eye
As we walked on by
She could see from my face that I was
Flyin' high
And I don't think that I'll see her again
But we shared a moment that will last till the endYou're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
I saw your face in a crowded place
And I…
I don't know if Rush are also good blokes in person; it was the quality of their product that I was comparing to his.
