You would do well in New Brunswick, there is a definite obession here with who has died and when there is a viewing

I even take visitors on trips round the cemeteries
some really interesting ones in Halifax, especially where the Titanic victims are buried.

Let me guess it is the cool marble that attracts you (watch the film Heat of Night for more explanation )

beetlejuice is an unknown quantity at this point

Can anyone tell me what the bug situation is like in Nova Scotia in the summer months. It sounds a great place except for mozzies, black flies and 'no see ums' (what the hell are those?)

As Brits I suspect we've had a pretty easy time of it regards bugs. Are these bugs a real problem to the point they ruin the summer? Or is it hyped up?

Is it all areas or just in the lakes etc. I've read holiday accounts from American torists that read like a script from a Hollywood Horror movie! I'd like to know bwcause my wife isone of these people who seemsto attract mozziesand her skin reacts badly.

We'd like to move out to NS but...

Best kind of wife IMHO. She attracts the bugs and gets bitten, you don't. I have one of those myself. Works great for me!

I always get bitten, in Canada, in the Med, anywhere.

NS is by no means the worst place....you want horror stories....I can tell you one or two about western Scotland in August that make NS bugs fade into insignificance.

At the moment here in Halifax it's pretty bad. My OH is on antibiotics at the moment as he has cellulitis from one of his bites. I have massive red bumps over my arms and legs, the worst one's though are on my scalp. Have tried all sorts of bug repelents. We lived in southern Africa for many years and have never come across anything like this. More people than ever seem to have put up gazebos this year, trying to get some protection. We were in Annapolis and Digby the beginning of the week though and it was nothing as bad as it is in Halifax. More rain, up to 10 mm, is forecast again for tonight too, so it doesn't look as if it's going to get better soon. The humidity was unbearable again this morning, once the fog cleared.
