several options available.

Also available, but buy a jar of mincemeat - nice rum and brandy one on the PC label - and some tart shells.

Available at Bulk Barn.

For Chutneys, they are available too...but check out the Salsa selection in the supermarket. You'll find some fruit ones there that are essentially chutneys.
I couldn't find any in No Frills (but that's no great surprise!). Will have a look in Saskatoon during week. Thanks

It seems from all the supermarket adverts that people in the UK like their Christmas meals pre-prepared. There's a lot of them and the narrators all sound like they're nonces using their grooming voices.

One custom our family inherited from dad's mother was kippers on Christmas morning, (the German side liked the salty kipperines), and I know better now than to wait till the last minute to try and find some. They used to be very common in stores here, and cheap too, but not any more. It's been a long time since I've had them.

Me too. Something I try and keep up although HID is not overly impressed with the smell when they're cooking.

Pacific Fresh Fish has them but frozen, so I likely won't find any fresh ones but I'll look in Safeway first as they're next door. Here I go!

I get frozen ones from Scotland. But at least they're kippers.

These are Neptune brand from Aberdeen, $4.05/200g (10% off day), so now I'm ready. We used to get twice the kippers for half the price back in the day when they were fresh, but I think they came from the maritimes. I checked the big Superstore and Safeway first, (no joy), but bought hot sausage, Genoa salami, pate and pumpernickel. It already feels like Christmas, but if I hear that frikkin Paul McCartney
Wonderful Christmas Time thing once more I'm going to try to find some seal meat.

That's the brand I get and they're four dollars also. Enjoy.

I had the misfortune of being stuck in a gents for a prolonged period of time earlier this week and that was being blasted from the ceiling followed by some Celine Dion christmas dirge.

Here we have Majic 100 that plays nothing but christmas music 24/7...somehow I think the pogues aren't on the playlist.

Imagine the poor staff working in such places. No escape.

I am going to struggle without Christmas pudding, vegetarian stuffing, vegetarian suet, mince pies, Branston pickle etc etc. I'm not a vegetarian, just don't do red meat & pork. Also, being out in the middle of frozen nowhere(SK), not an English store in forever! Trying to adapt & not pine too much for British things.

Will try to be more organised next year & import ahead of time!

You can buy Christmas puddings, mince pies, and Branston Pickle here. They will be sold in some grocery stores (I have Branston Pickle in my fridge and I buy it at Sobeys or whichever other grocery store has the best price as it is available everywhere here in Ontario). If you cannot find that stuff in your grocery stores you can order online from all kinds of stores here in Canada (particularly Ontario and B.C.).

And I am sure there will be vegetarian stuffing and suet available in grocery stores. If not, you can make your own. My brother and sister-in-law are vegetarians and they make their own. There are recipes all over the web.

There's a plastic pub near here where they play only the Pogues and Flogging Molly. Working there would be worse than in a place that played something I already hated.
