what if you have chosen the wrong city/province

Re: what if you have chosen the wrong city/province
Re the BEng it is in Electronics and Electrical Engineering - although if I am correct (Mark is at work just now!) 90% was electronics but when you go for jobs they want Mark to be certified for Engineering. We went up to the offices in Fredericton to meet the staff for the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick - as soon as they see engineer in his qualification they ask for certification from this group but if it is electronics they want certification from New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians. Unfortunately neither is covered fully by his degree so he would have to sit more courses. Even his PhD is difficult as it is in Micro Electronics and not basic Electronics (I don't know the real difference - I'm just the wife!)
We put down 50% on our house here and will have made a good profit on it as we got a good deal. We could afford more if Mark gets the salary we think he is due but we don't want to just buy bigger because we can afford it. We are used to our holidays down to Florida/Las Vegas/Phoenix etc, so prefer to spend out money having family time. Again flights from Moncton are hard to find compared to other major airports and expensive.

As a professional engineer he should not be bothering with provincial Certified Engineering Technician and Technologist equivalency; by having a degree in electrical engineering it would be tantamount to working perhaps as a clerk of works (electrical) /site foreman vice the site project electrical engineer.
Have you tried this gang, you may have more luck:

The various engineering discipline graduates (serving in the military) are members of this national body. Has he talked to them?
Good luck...

HI
thanks for the site, but this was the office we went up to see in Fredericton. they weren't really helpful. Mark's degree is 80% electronics and only 20% electrical engineering. They gave him a list and said he would have to have covered all the areas on the list - it would have meant doing a whole new degree.
There is another group who look more promising in Moncton but as we are hoping to move to Ontario soon (please, fingers & toes crossed, and a silent prayer!!) we might start researching other electrical professionals and see if they cover electroncis.
So many people have offered us assistance and we really appreciate it, and we have made many new friends. We won't give up, this is our new life and we have to fight for what we want out of live.
We will keep you updated
