What happened to spring?

What happened to spring?
I'm this close to putting the AC on. Last week we still had heating on about half the time.

Re: What happened to spring?
Its the other way round over here.
AC has been on regularly since April (having a SW facing back of the house with a lot of window and full exposure has something to do with that though!!!).
Barbecues on the deck started in March.
Heating went back on last week!

Re: What happened to spring?
I'm with you Bristol....Monday before last it snowed in Fredericton then this Monday I put the electric fan in the window in our bedroom...the sort that fits in the window and brings the cold air in (I'd never seen those prior to coming to Canada) but last night we got that out and installed the AC! The weather has gone nuts!

Re: What happened to spring?
We had a huge downpour/thunder storms here yesterday lunchtime, the road was running like a river with the drains unable to cope. I am sitting here waiting for builder to come over and inspect the basement as there was a small flood. It would seem the minimum will be replacing the floor, skirting and lower half of the plaster board.

Re: What happened to spring?
A friend lives at bottom of a hill. Heavy rain caused what Alex described. His insurance didn't cover what's known as overland water flooding. Supposedly no insurance for such water damage.
from broker link.ca
There is currently no insurance coverage available in Canada for overland flooding. According to the Insurance Bureau of Canada, this is because only a small percentage of the population is at risk for overland flooding. Those who are most vulnerable are those living in areas prone to flooding, such as flood plains or near lakes and rivers. Since the majority of homeowners aren’t exposed to this risk and would not share in the cost of the coverage, it becomes too expensive to provide flood insurance for homeowners who would need it.

Square One Insurance started including Inland Flood Protection (ie not from the sea or tide) in April this year.

Re: What happened to spring?
Rather different than the original thrust of this thread but spring seems to have taken a step backwards in Newfoundland. Temps of 20C+ earlier this week have been replaced by single digits forecast well into next week and risk of SN** in some places over the weekend. Which makes having put away the kids winter clothes a possibly premature decision!
I'm currently in our nations capital, where it's been high 20's all week. Going back to the Rock tomorrow will be a bit of a shock I fear.

Re: What happened to spring?
Having succumbed and put the AC on yesterday for the evening, just to cool things down for bedtime, today I've had to shut the windows. The feels like has kept it in single digits since 11.00 am.
Currently it's 7, feels like 4.

That information is out of date - although only just.

Here, in ON, it was cold enough a fortnight ago to light the log fire in the evenings. Now it's 88F in the day. Spring was last week. Wednesday, I think.
