Re: What do you miss from where you came from?
A good, spicy Indian curry
3 bottles of wine for £12 in Sainsburies (maybe with inflation it's gone up now...)
British humour and people being able to understand it!!!
Car insurance that doesn't cripple me financially + compare the market/go compare and all the price comparison websites so I don't have to use a broker
Being able to snowboard all year around in MK snow dome
A proper cup of tea without Orange Pekoe in it (yuk!)
Car boot sales and jumble sales

The Dales.
The moors.
Some foods including, but not limited to, various cheeses, organic meat/veg fairly readily available available in supermarkets at fairly affordable prices. Unsmoked bacon. Cumberland sausage.
Proper markets (not seasonal "farmers'" ones with sometimes silly pricing).
Cider.
My siblings.
France.

Orange pekoe is just a grade of black tea (the highest). All better quality black teas are orange pekoe grade. If you prefer Tetley, Typhoo, Yorkshire brands or whatever you deem 'proper', they're orange pekoe grade too and are all available in major grocery stores.

I thought we had done this to death on here. Orange Pekoe is a grade of tea. I think it originally referred to tea picked by hand. In North America if has become a generic description of black tea (as opposed to green tea). It does not mean that the tea has anything added. The tea in the box or bag is exactly the same as the tea you buy in the UK.
Edit: As RICH has just said.

Never occurred to me that I would miss it. I used to be able to see and hear the sea from my house. The beach was a ten minute walk away (across a golf course, but you can't have everything) or a short walk from the village shop, which also sold choccy biccies and cream. I haven't seen the sea for over five years.
The mountains and rivers just don't replace the sounds and smell of the sea.

I deliberately didn't mention "decent" or "proper" tea in my list as I suspected it might lead to controversy .

Well thats a weird combination!
Having just gone round a lot of places looking for a vaguely decent Christmas card for Snoop, I failed... No, I didnt, the shops did. Canadian cards are simply dreadful- the sort of cards you would have seen in the UK in the 70s -sooo old fashioned, schmaltzy and making.
British cards from WHSmith...that is what I miss! Funny cards, genuinely funny not Canadian "funny", cards which have an edge to the humour sometimes
Or is it just me?

I used to see the ocean everyday at some point when living in San Diego, now I am lucky if I get to see it a few times a year. I am not super far, but to be honest the beaches of Vancouver kind of suck, not the same league. The island has some places though.

One of my fave 'location smells' funnily enough is the Paris Metro. It has a certain Je ne c'est quoi.
