An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion (courtesy of WIKI obviously)
Am I alone in thinking that there may be some kind of dark force acting in stealth mode, one who doesn't quite fit into the criteria above but whom no less provokes the response![Confused](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif)

Trolling is also an art form, that is often a great way of getting a sly little dig in without making it too obvious.
For example, if I started a thread entitled "Any BE member under 5ft is a small, fat, smelly, sub-human" I'd probably get banned and rightly so.
But if I started a thread entitled "Studies suggest 5ft ex-pat forum users are rounder and more noxious than taller users" I could sit back, smile and watch as the other users did my dirty work for me.
Before you could say banned there'd be carnage in the thread with the taller members slagging the small fatties and the fatties crying their porky little eyes out demanding action from the mods.
