I don't know if any of you used to be from Weston or surrounding areas, but this morning the pier burnt down
There are no reports of anyone being hurt. There are a few locals who think it may have been an electrical fault because of the way the fire spread? It's such a shame as new people bought it last year and it had been revamped with loads of new rides etc. My daughter used to go there all the time with her friends.
I drove down there to have a look for myself along with many other locals. There's nothing much to offer visitors now as the pier was the main attraction to the town. I hope it can be rebuilt soon?
Ah well, we have 2 delapidated piers now

Wasn't sorry to leave the place but still a shame when stuff like that happens.

It's a huge loss. Lots of people will have many happy memories of that place - including me - and it really was the heart of Weston. I was last there in April, they were starting to do some upgrades then, and the place was really busy. Apparantly the fire started in a chip pan one of the little cafes at the top of the pier.
