Weekend plans?

It's quite hot this afternoon, I blame the naffing yanks, anyway I"m sat in Earls taking full advantage of happy hour while waiting for HID and an order of yam fries with garlic aioli (it is Vancouver after all) so I thought after yesterday a flippant thread about your weekend plans was in order.
It's actually quite an interesting place (Earl's) to be. Although I"m not qualitative researcher and attempting to write up an ethnographic study on a phone with poxy predictive text is not easy, there's a lot material. Although I've had to move to the bar as the service is slow. The critical word here is, 'Hour'. Now there's a fat man sitting next to me who's British, Scottish or drunk and he seems to know everyone.

Before I prattle on any further, what fun stuff are you all up to this weekend?

Waiting for it to be over. One of the biggest warnings given to potential expats should be that visitors feel it is 'too far' to just come for the standard tolerable two days...

Re: Weekend plans?

Given that most of the people are in tee shirts, shorts and flip flops this doesn't seem to be the typical after work crowd. As James has observed, the bar babes (I'm old enough to be their older brother) are a lot more pleasing on the eye than old Frank down The Red Lion. HID better show up soon so we can go and have dinner. :)

Tomorrow I will be at the hair salon...then have a few last minute purchases to get. Then home to pack for our hols...leaving Tuesday. Sunday out with daughter and family for brunch...which will probably take all afternoon.

You should put up a sign that says "when we get pissed on Friday night and ask you to stay till Monday, we don't mean it."

Well it seems as if HID has stood me up, so it's down to the boat to carry on this party. ;)

I will be recovering... Two nights ago, I woke up as dawn was breaking so weird shapes appeared in the bed (no, not Snoop:lol:)
Having woken up from some weird dream, I must have seen one of those shapes as a large snake:o
I backed away to avoid said snake and promptly fell to the floor from a fairly reasonable height with a crash- I laughed, Snoop laughed even more than I - fine yesterday but today ... Holy crap my arm/ shoulder hurts... How embarrassing . Snoop thought that she had dreamt it until I started whining about my hurtie shoulder:mad:

First Barbeque! It's finally warm enough! It will rain but the barbeque is on the verandah...may this be the first of many before the end of September:thumbup: It's the last weekend of Air Cadets....so I get my kid back after that!

This is the summer of beans...I've never grown much before, but they grow quickly and are tough...I started seedlings on a windowsill a few weeks back and have been waiting for the frost to stop so I can transplant them...if I don't get them out soon, I shall need a machete to get up the stairs.

A very happy weekend to all!

My stepdaughter grew quite a lot last year and they were good. The year before there were tons of cucumbers and they were fantastic.

It seems each year she grows something that really stands out from the other stuff but it's never the same thing.

I've just joined a club for community gardeners (have I become sad, or what!) but it's mainly for refugees, and telling them about the growing cycles here....much shorter than for the majority of you!

I'm going to give it a good try....I'm bored, and even if my attention span doesn't last long, it can carry on to the first wave of cold I'm sure:thumbup:

Bicycle is back from the shop, so may take it out for a spin. Weather looks reasonable.

Taking kids to dance lessons, birthday parties, domestic chores, some gardening if the weather improves, usual weekend stuff. And two 40th birthday parties to attend tonight (young whipersnappers) and hopefully sneaking out for a few pints with a mate Sunday night.

Near Toronto. It's bucketing. Glad we mowed and strimmed last evening.

I've just got home from Friday 13th in Port Dover. What a miserable ride back!

I went up Thursday night this time. Quieter than the Friday but for an extra 15$ camp fee probe worth it.

Spent the day yesterday driving to and from Banff, Saw a grizzly along the side of the road. Rellies are continuing their yearly trip too and from Alabama stopping off at stops along the way, we get to have supper with friends later í ½í¸€

Taking it very easy today as I did a Stinky and hurt my back trying to do back flips into False Creek at 1:00am Friday night. It turned out when I got down to the dock a mate of mine rolled up in his boat up with two nice looking girls, loads of crab and a big bottle of very posh tequila that he got in Mexico. So we turned on the crab burner, borrowed some shot glasses from a near by restaurant and all things considered it turned out to be a top evening.

It was HID's fault as she stood me up on Friday afternoon, although she is not taking responsibility for it. Apparently it was my fault I rolled in at 3:30 am, she even has the audacity to suggest I buy her a new rug for the living room this afternoon to make amends.

I think she’s mostly naffed off because she didn’t get the crab that she was promised. Somehow on the walk home between the dock and the apartment, they managed to give me the slip and escape from the paper bag they were in. So now there are three monster Dungeness crabs on the loose scurrying around Vancouver.

I worked all weekend.

It'll be different next weekend. We're spending a few days at our country estate near Quebec City and the weather forecast is good (unlike what it's doing there today!!!!).

Oh, and mowing the lawn.

Yes, but I rather fancy the one I saw a co-worker using last week, where he could just sit back and drive it around by remote control :).

British car porn this weekend....

Vancouver ABFM at VanDusen on Saturday. Possibly followed by a car run to Whistler on Sunday. At least two dozen fellow Landroverists will be attending. Guaranteed to be the least shiny and most dinged vehicles there...

Rain or shine. The former appears to be likely, in support of everything British about a holiday weekend. So the opportunities for some toplessness seem remote (of other people's cars!).

Over 500 British cars will be there.
