Vancouver to regulate marijuana shops
Marijuana dispensary regulations approved in Vancouver - British Columbia - CBC News
This has been the news most of the day.
1. $30,000 annual business license, except for Compassion Club dispensaries which operate on a club system ----- they will be charged only $1,000
2. not allowed within 300' of schools, community centres or another marijuana store
There are now over 100 such stores in Vancouver, some are obeying the law and supplying only people with a doctor's prescription, others are selling to anyone. I know of 5, possibly 6, within 1 km of my own house
The City Council held 4 nights of public hearings before coming to the decision, and the 3 NPA members voted against it.
Rhona Ambrose is furious ..... but the council and staff are being very careful to say they are not legalising the sale of marijuana but regulating where the dispensaries can operate. They make the point that this is all a result of inaction by the Feds.

30,000 is a lot of money, maybe put a few out of business with such a high fee?
