More so than I would like at the moment.

Just diagnosed with bloody shingles a couple of days ago and the pain is damned annoying.:curse:

I think I do need to get a grip. I was certain I'd posted a reply to the effect that I'd posted yesterday. Can I find it? No.

The fork is always in their right hand and they sometimes use the side of it to cut things with as well.

Canada is like the US in that. If the meal does not include an item that requires a knife only a fork is used. Quite permissible and common and not an etiquette gaffe.

Only reason I'm asking is because my 5yr old has adopted this habit and I'm trying to explain to her the benefits of using both a knife and fork.
Most certainly there are advantages to using the fork in your left hand and the knife in your right and keeping all utensils in your hands at all times. You can teach your child both methods so that she/he fits in with the preferences of her peers and/or use whatever method is appropriate for the meal she is eating.

We were invited to dinner a few months ago and were handed a plate of spaghetti Bolognese with only a fork?? My Wife and I looked at each other and were both too embarrassed to ask for a knife as no one else was using one.

I struggle without a knife..
Why in heavens name would you need a knife to eat spaghetti? You would actually push the strands onto you upside down fork before eating it. I use what many call the European method of eating most meals, fork in the left and knife in the right, but I can't visualize why you would need a knife for a pasta dinner.

Here is it customary to serve a long stranded pasta dish with a fork and soup spoon.

Curious - do you eat your eggs over light with a knife and fork, or your pizza, or fried chicken or hamburger or hot dog?

I have a question ..... how does everyone eat their peas, when using the knife and fork, UK style?

.... Answers on a postcard please. :p

I balance as many as I can on my fork (a bit of ketchup helps to make them stick ;). I can't be bothered to stab them with the prongs - I would probably lose loads as they shoot of the plate.

Does anyone apart from me still do the very unfunny 'oh look, I've pea'd on the floor' comment? :o
