USA refugees Huh?

Re: USA refugees Huh?
The idea that tolerance can only be shown towards groups you agree with indicates the high degree of similarity between the ideologues of the left and right. It is the degree of tolerance of groups who one disagrees with that most tests whether one is indeed tolerant.
The KKK and the various National Socialist groups in the USA don't show any degree of probability of gaining political power. It is (or was) part of the American system that there was freedom of speech and assembly.

It appears we have a group of people on this forum who believe that breaking the law and entering Canada illegally is actually a good thing, they are The same people who are ridiculing and disagreeing with the other percentage of posters who believe that entering Canada the legal route and utilising a well planned and Gov approved visas is not the best way for some to enter the country

The reason for ridiculing the trio is not that they're sticklers for procedure but that their cumulative posts suggest a pattern of racism and religionism though I wouldn't go so as to equate carcajou with the likes of John Terry or David Duke.

So it looks like Haiti is far from recovery even after 5 years, so why the threat of not renewing visas in the states, ? It seems that the cause of this north bound exodus is not being addressed!!

You are presumably aware of why there's a flood of Haitians crossing the border into Quebec?
It's almost entirely because refugees from the 2010 earthquake, whose homes and communities were largely destroyed, had "enjoyed" TPS (temporarily protected status) in the USA until now. In May of this year, on instruction from the current Federal administration, that protected status was renewed only for a further 6 months and the advice was given to Haitians that they should prepare to leave the country voluntarily or expect to be deported.
What would you do in those circumstances?

Re: USA refugees Huh?
If there is such issues in Haiti still then why don't Canada take in the fleeing Haitians at the provided border and support their cause legally? That way any non Haitians trying to sneek in would think twice.
Laws and rules can be changed to accommodate in an emergency I am guessing

I read an interesting article the other day (sorry no link) lamenting how resilient Presidents Trump's support has been considering how awful/useless etc he has been (author didn't like him) . One of the biggest reasons he gave was pushback because of false accusations of racism and bigotry against people just because they didn't like illegal immigration and even immigration in general. The author gave many examples of why someone wouldn't like immigration without being racist (eg labour supply-wages) even though he was pro immigration himself. He also referenced surveys which showed immigrants in general had similar concerns over immigration levels and illegal immigration compared to native born after a few years and they weren't being accused of being racist.

Lets not forget the Canadian government ended the special status for Haitians before the US and the majority of Haitians have their asylum claims turned down by Canada and are being deported.
