just because a guy was arrested and died accidentally in custody, geez, least he got as far as custody some don't even get that far !!

While the underlying causes are tragic, it's highly entertaining viewing.

It's pent up anger, rather than this specific case, I suspect.

Black community has a lot of anger against the "man" some if it is indeed justified because of things that occurred in the past and still occur towards blacks, however rioters are just thugs doing thuggish things and are just using these situation's as an excuse.
There is also the not being black enough that is quite prevalent in the black community.
Charles Barkley rants about Russell Wilson being ‘brainwashed,’ called ‘not black enough’ - The Washington Post
The issues are deep rooted and they will not be solved overnight, but sometimes you need to start within to improve things.

If I was an African American or American Hispanic living in one of those crappy neighborhoods with failing housing, poor to no medical care and crappy schools without enough pencils for the kids etc I would be pretty p####d off and ready to explode at any moment.
I volunteered in one of those schools once. My sons, in their brand new school with music practice rooms, auditorium and astounding sports facilities, used to collect pencils from their friends at the end of the year so I could take them to the inner city school.
I am simply surprised things do not kick off more often. I did not want to be there when those inequalities in US society finally cause tensions to boil over.

I remember driving through LA in the 90s near the area where they rioted back then. The boarded-up businesses and houses where people had moved out for good seemed to go on forever. Only a few high-margin, low-inventory businesses remained, because their owners could treat being burned down as a normal business expense.

I am not fully up to speed in this story (wrong continent) but I was quite impressed by some pictures on Reddit yesterday showing walls of black citizens protecting white police. Anyone know anything about that?

The world is just so bloody hypocritical though. I've been listening today to the outrage at the shooting of these 8 people in Indonesia and the Australians and Brazilians saying that in this day and age the Death Sentence has no place in our society.
But at the same time many States in the US still have the Death Sentence and have actually been killing more people, but when we look at those who are being killed, the vast majority of them are black. The problem now is how do we kill them? A couple of States are re-booting the electric chair, as the drug alternative doesn't seem to be quite as effective as hoped, and 'unreasonable'
drug companies are getting shirty about their products being used to offski the unwanted. We are meant to shut up whilst the US attempts to police the world and point fingers at others, whist at the same time they are pretty damned woeful at policing themselves.
I don't for one moment think that the wave of black men who have met an untimely end in the US of late, at the hands of the police, were all saints, but by the same token, nothing seems to happen to gun happy policemen.
How can the situation improve if we don't address the fact that, in general, a white man can shoot a black man and get away with it.
If I were black I'd be rioting too.
