Election 2015: Q&A - what happens if no-one wins? - BBC News |
Re: UK Election Poll
Well, our votes ended up being proxy ones with the voting forms going to my MIL. This meant for the first time, someone who isn't me or my wife knows which way I voted. I can't decide whether that tempered my voting choice or not. I might have been a bit more radical on the basis it won't affect me and no-one would ever know!
I'll be able to watch the election results unfold without staying up into the small hours! |
Re: UK Election Poll
If the Subaru changes to a tartan Subaru by Wednesday night then its got my vote. I prefer it to be the Royal Stuart tartan.
|
Re: UK Election Poll
I actually thought there would be a higher turnout of BE voters than there has been. Maybe they're waiting for the actual day to vote?

Maybe most of them don't give a shit about voting if they are over here permanently or temporary. Be it the UK or here in Canada I have lost all confidence in all parties and leaders. They are all as bad as each other. If a cheese and ham sandwich with pickled onions was on the ballot paper Id vote for it as thats how much confidence I have in politicians today.

Re: UK Election Poll
Is there any way we can watch the election unfold here in Canada on our normal tv programs? Like maybe BBC Canada?

Put a link to the poll in the UKIP thread in TIO and you may get a few more 'voters' from all parties

Re: UK Election Poll
I'm not eligible so burnt one on the Plaid Subaru (assuming that means whatever coalition).

It's Plaid Cymru which is the national party of Wales. However it's only the Welsh that know how to pronounce it so sometimes the name gets bastardised. Their current leader, a lass, has a lovely accent, and pronounces it: "plied cumree" or something like that. |

I'm afraid I agree with you entirely. I still watch Question time from the UK each week. It annoys the hell out of me but Canadian politics are so dull that I can't find the same motivation to take an interest. I suppose I will always live vicariously with the UK political arena to some point or another, if only because it is so much more intense.

Don't know about watching it unfold but CBC radio features it regularly on its news. I suppose CBC TV does something similar.

It doesn't seem right for me to do so. The only UK matter of any relevance to me would be my pension (when it comes) and the (non) uprating issue. Of course, it doesn't seem right I can't vote here without going down the citizenship road. Not that I'd want to give the politicians here any sense of respectability. |
Re: UK Election Poll
Has our vote ended? Is the poll we have the final result for BE? In which case - WOW! We're obviously not representative of the UK population!
Are we wrong or them? Mind you, we're the one's who left which, by inference, would suggest we at least think they're wrong. |
Re: UK Election Poll
We do seem to be a little 'right' on here...
I predict that the Conservatives will come out with the most seats, which will unfortunately be undermined by an attempted Labour/SNP coalition, whilst the Conservatives try to defeat them with a coalition with UKIP. The LibDems won't win enough seats to make any difference whatsoever and their front bench will all lose their seats unless they are in Cornwall or the South Lakes. Tim Farron will probable become their new leader. The pound will drop about 5-10% against most currencies on Friday. The Conservatives will attempt to form a minority Government. The Unions will sack Ed Miliband at the the TUC's branch conference known as the Labour Party Conference and replace him with the other hypocritical millionaire Ed Ballsup, with his wife Yvette Millionaire Cooper as deputy. There will be another General Election at the end of the summer unless that is no longer allowed. |
Re: UK Election Poll
Exit poll at 10pm predicting Conservatives at 316 seats. Michael Gove very bullish on. Conservative government.
|
Re: UK Election Poll
Just heard UKIP likely to only get 2 seats.
|
Re: UK Election Poll
the best yet from theTelegrapgh
22.35 Ajockalype Now The SNP will win every seat in Scotland bar one, according to the broadcaster's exit poll that would create huge questions about the longevity of the Union, Ben Riley-Smith reports. Every Scottish Labour MP will be kicked out of office with Jim Murphy, the Scottish Labour leader, Douglas Alexander, Labour's shadow foreign secretary and Margaret Curran, the shadow Scottish Secretary, all falling. Leading Liberal Democrats including Danny Alexander, the Chief Secretary of the Treasury, and former leader Charles Kennedy will also be kicked out of office. Alistair Carmichael, the current Lib Dem Scottish Secretary, will be the only MP standing according to that poll. |
Re: UK Election Poll
IF the exit poll holds, With the tories on 316, say +2 from UKIP, is there a chance they can get another 8 without the lib dems? thoughts?
|
Re: UK Election Poll
I've got BBC's coverage on. Their exit poll says:
Conservative 316 (+9) Labour 239 (-19) SNP 58 (+52) Lib Dem 10 (-47) PC 4 (+1) UKIP 2 (+2) Green 2 (+1) Other 19 (+1) You gov's poll is completely different though...... |

Re: UK Election Poll
Conservatives held my old home town of Carlisle, which they wrenched off Labour in 2010, with an increased majority.
Labour reckoned that one one of their dead certs. Could even be an absolute majority at this rate. I wonder what time Milliband will be told to resign by his Union masters? |
Re: UK Election Poll
Now saying -1 short of a majority for the tories.
|
Re: UK Election Poll
When you elect someone with the personal charisma of a wet flannel to be the leader of your political party in a polity that is driven by media soundbites, then you should expect this type of result.

Re: UK Election Poll
I just don't get it...why? So more years of taking from the poor to give to the rich and what will happen to the NHS?
Still at least Farage has gone.. |
Re: UK Election Poll
I wonder how Cameron will deal with the new party leaders, especially Harriet Harman & Nicola Sturgeon? should be interesting year to come.
Now its how do the Conservatives find the £12 billion in cuts- will the NHS be the big one or the welfare budget? |

Re: UK Election Poll
Well it is official now - an absolute majority! Fair play to those of you who called it, I was expecting a Labour minority Government propped up by SNP.
|
Re: UK Election Poll
now the work begins to choose a new leader of the labour party - who would be your choice from Andy Burnham, Chuka Umunna or Gloria De Piero?
