2nd in Europe, only behind Finland, and 6th best in the world. Canada is 7th.
So there you have it... move to the UK, folks, for the kids.

A study which shows the ridiculous South Korean Education system at the very top should be treated with some caution in my opinion. Although well done the UK

I think the whole think is quite ridiculous, I only posted it to poke fun at those people who maintain that schooling inCanada is better than the UK, and cite it as a reason for moving.

Emigration for education: it's a rollercoaster of emotion, but it's for a better life for the kids, innit, so it's all worth it in the end.

Not a one size fits all IMO. Great education can be had in both countries, but it very much depends on where one ends up living, and the particular school. Similar discussion going on in an Alberta thread.

The education system thing is a strange one.
Does a better system produce more educated people? Or are smart people capable of educating themselves regardless?
Surely it is how your education is perceived that opens the doors anyway.
I'm confusing myself now roll on 4pm.

Education in the west is massively overrated. I'm not saying that (just) to be inflammatory, but I think the focus on what's important in society has got lost somewhat in the meat-grinder of the education industry... for it is an industry, as much as coal-mining or ship-building ever was.

This article points out the level of misunderstanding in the general public, and the impact that has on governing.

That's not to say it's essential for every person to have a long formal education, but on the whole, good education is something we should continue to promote.
