Re: TV, Internet and Phone

after being with Rogers cell for over 10 years, I dumped them after being gouged & listening to what our kids had with Koodo, Fido & virgin - I spent a long time before going with Public Mobile

They are owned by Telus (Bell), in December 2014 I went with then for a province wide unlimited talk plan only (no contract +no roaming charges) includes voice mail & call display (no cost SIM no cost 911) for $19.95/mth + tax = $21.47. I'm still on this basic plan today

It also allows me to call when I'm in my province to Canada wide without extra cost

All incoming calls are also free

OK, so in 2015 they up'd the cost a bit, beef'd up their service. Its all on line, there is no store

Available in NB, no contract, 24/7 province wide calling, 1 GB data, Global text, comes in at $42/mth

I did get a new phone with that contract but that's long paid off with their TAB. And since they don't have any phone I want, looks like I need to re-think!

I'm happy with wifi only data though; I have 6Gb of data on my work phone.

UPDATE: OK I checked it. I can go down to the $30/ month plan but not the $25; my free UK calls add-on needs canada-wide minute availability. I guess having that little bit of data would be handy in emergencies so it'll save me $5 a month.

UPDATE 2: My current plan is $29. I'm paying $55pm total with the $20 UK call add-on, obvs I forgot taxes. So no point spending $1 for a teaser of data! But thanks for the thought!

WTF that is a ripoff.

I just checked Koodo's site. For $40/month if you have your own phone:
$40 / Month
500 MB of Shock-Freeâ„¢ data 1
500 Canada-wide anytime minutes
Unlimited messaging (text & picture) 2
Unlimited evenings and weekends (5pm) 3
Call Display, Voicemail, Call Waiting, Conference Calling and Unlimited Canada-wide Family Calling 6
Additional data $5/100 MB

Seriously, sort that out.

For internet: Shaw have a 150 offer now for 49.90 a month. Although TELUS has also laid fiber but I don't need mega fast services, at least not for what I do.

with a 2 year contract + pay for modem rental, $49.90 year 1, $79.90 year 2

The key is 'getting a no term contract package deal' fixed price, modem included, cancel anytime, which is what Bell is offering me, but I am barking on the price of $53.95/mth + tax

15Mbps internet $40/mo no contract, using Bell's lines so no degradation in quality... (I wouldnt go with the cable, i'd go DSL, as cable is Rogers lines which are very congested in my experience in Toronto) For someone like you you don't need 25Mbps, 15 will do just fine.

EDIT: You can buy your own modem for $40 from them and get a decent wireless router on top if you need wireless and thats the modem sorted.

I am currently looking into cancelling our cable TV and going with IPTV services... So far these guys have decent prices on the "voodoo" service which includes Canadian channels as well as US/UK and BEIN sports. Featured Products
