ISIS have threatened us again with Trump not being President though he has indicated to wipe ISIS out.
Does that make a terrorist attack more likely or less?

So apart from the nuclear fallout if the US or even Canada was hit why should I worry about who the US elect as President even if it is Trump?
Personally the threat of being incinerated or surviving that but starving, sick, dying etc is enough to worry about. The price of beans or what document needed at the border not so much. ;)

I fear that he'll make a mess of the shared economy. I don't think he'd be good with money and I don't think he'd be good with foreign affairs, he'd be likely to provoke a foreign war and domestic (domestic including Canada) terrorism by accident. Interestingly, he's the only politician, worldwide, in history, to have worse hair than Harper. That said, the Canadian Candidate is a bone fide lunatic so, if it's Repug, Little Marco is the least worst.

He could rip up NAFTA but Ive seen no evidence to suggest he would. I do believe he could become more protectionist than others but we have only been fighting the softwood lumber trade dispute for the last 20 odd years or so.
How many trillions of dollars are the USA in debt without Trump being President.

He might push for US air carriers to operate within Canada but if it means lower air fares I wouldn't be complaining perhaps the same might happen with US cellular services.
He could build more towers in Canada and that would be good for construction the same with golf courses.

Trumps not even President yet and we are increasing our take of refugees. 25,000 Syrians already and more to come. Shame we didn't do the same for the Afghanis, Libyans and a few others where Canada supported the US in those shitty wars.

I think the difference in opinion between us is rooted in your view that Canada is a country and my view that it's effectively a State. I think you've fallen into that North American parochialism whereby the farthest one can see is the next State. If a President drags the country into a foreign war then it drags all the States, Canada included, into that war. I fear that Trump and, even more so Cruz, will take on Putin.

Did we get dragged into the Iraq War? As we are part of NATO we have to now and then show willing to NATO sanctioned conflicts but how much resources Canada actually contributes is left to our PM. Now sure if we are seen not to be pulling our weight some of those countries might look at Canada in disdain but they won't publicly say it like when we pulled out the CF18s.
I keep an open mind as Im still British and don't fully subscribe to the whole North American crap.
Has Putin done anything wrong lately and if he has should we send him a very strongly worded letter? What is Mr Cameron in the UK doing with Putin where over the last several months UK fighter jets have been scrambled to intercept Russian bombers? Hard to be critical of Putins bombing of Syria and allegedly hitting civilians when our own NATO forces have done the exact same thing.

You do realize a US president only executes the laws not makes them. Secondly, the federal government itself has very limited powers, those which it does have are explicit. The rest of the goings on are really the purview of the states and local municipalities.

I know that but obviously others don't and perhaps that is why they are afraid of Trump.
I wonder if its too late for Frank Underwood to put his name on the ballot.

This is a good take on what it could well be like of Trump did become president. Canada would be in trouble after Trump messes up the "shared economy"

Many people like his straight talking, although a good thing in someways, i feel, this would also be his downfall....or the US's downfall, as due to his complete lack of diplomacy, then yes he could provoke a foreign war by accident. I agree.

I do see where some people draw the Rob Ford simularity, there would never be a shortage of comedy, but this would come at a dangerous price.

To be honest I dont know enough about Ted Cruz to comment on his level of lunacy.
