Re: Trudeau

Given Mr. Trudeau's propensity for outrageous costumes in public we should, perhaps, all be grateful that we don't know what he wears at home. Perhaps he's a furby.

Naturally. I even asked my co-worker Harley (who is of a visible minority) if it offended him, and he said no. Nobody's brought it up in the bar yet. I live in North Central Regina which is considered an urban reserve, even though I think the actual reserve land is just a few blocks between the main street and the next street to the west, and racism is something that's encountered and dealt with every day somewhere in the neighbourhood. Stupid white chicks wearing Indian head dresses would get a reaction (this from Harley), but Trudeau on Halloween or his school party doesn't mean much.

Somehow the image of stupid white chicks wearing Indian headresses stomping through downtown Regina is

Think something lost in the transmission....my bad....when I said 'not'.....I meant that most people I have spoken with, laughed it off, and were not offended....as is the case with me...however, does not alter the fact I consider him a plonker....

Groping is not a sexual assault?

On the 2001 Aladin photo the visible hand looks to be in quite an intimate position. I wonder where the other hand was?

Awkward public speaker, apt to commit quasi - faux pas like the costumes in India, or even old blackface pics is the small stuff. My main disappointment (as I've mentioned before) is his unwillingness to address criminal behaviour from some of our allies. Still miles above Scheer for my vote, and I wouldn't burn my ballot on the NDP or Greens right now.

The criminal behaviour and the allies being?

No, that's not at all what happened. A third party alleged. Trudeau apologised at the time (it was included in the original regional newspaper editorial, I recall). The individual concerned said that she considered the matter closed, and had no intention of pursuing anything. Nobody with any knowledge of the incident classified it as a sexual assault - that is a construct that was put on it by others. Including you, it seems.

I was referring to Kavanaugh.

Evidence that may not stand up to the burden of proof in a criminal case, but that certainly doesn't pass the smell test.

But no, you go on ahead and equate the incidents if you will. That's your prerogative.

Again, you appear somewhat confused. I was referring to Trudeau and I haven't equated anything. I would simply like to see consistency in your arguments.

I didn't even know that dressing up for a costume party and colouring one's face could be seen as any kind of offence.

Once can find offensiveness in everything, it would seem.

If I was putting on a big fake mustache for a costume would a French, Italian or Mexican immigrant feel offended?

One could also imply that Trudeau's boxing career in his younger years lead him to aggression, intolerant, rude and even violent behaviour, Stepping into a boxing ring and boxing against another man is certainly more hurtful than colouring one's face in whatever colour.

I don't really like Trudeau's politics especially from a fiscal point of view, but his cabinet is certainly very very ethnic diverse. To me this photo doesn't influence my decision for the election anyway.

Incidentally, wasn't it Prince Harry who was once seen in a Nazi Uniform on a costume party? That was way way more offensive.
Also the photos were published by Time Magazine? I also recall, Time Magazine once claimed Hitler als being the "man of the year" sometime back in the 40ies..... Something Time Magazine certainly can't be proud of and is also not mentioned in this context.

As a young boy I remember watching what I would now describe as racist comedies with my parents in the 70's. You cannot change the past, only the future. He apologized, move along please. I'm sick and tired of 24x7 news coverage over this.
