Your bling will not be pure. It will contain other things that may be magnetic.

Non ferrous metals can get hot in the bore and cause burns.

I don't work in MRI so am not up with the details. I understand that the sequences can be altered plus patients are given a call button and the tech scanning can hear them speak. I think the shape of the metal affects how likely heat is going to build up.

I don't relish the thought of ever having an MRI!

I had one before they had a peep at my knee, very very noisy. A bit clausterphobic, but no great shakes. I understand that the bits in my knee are ceramic and titanium, no magnetic properties that I am aware of.

Depending on what part of the body is being scanned you may not have to go fully in the tube. My daughter had a knee problem...she went in legs first so her torso was out if the tube. I had a head scan...so the rest of my body didn't go in. Tell them you don't want to go fully in the tube because you don't like enclosed spaces. Some MRIs don't use the tube type system any more.

My husband had problems with his scan from the noise as he had PTSD. Some of the sequences sound like battle.

I am monumentally claustrophobic. I would have to be ripped to the tits on sedatives to last more than two seconds in one of those things.
My late mother had one a few years ago. From what she told me, the techs were astonished that she had managed to last an hour in the thing. An hour!
